چکیده

The paper presents an innovative approach for structural health monitoring of metallic components under fatigue crack phenomena. methodology is based on the evaluation information entropy acoustic emission (AE) data. AE testing growth (FCG) performed within extremely noisy environment. Basic data analysis demonstrated to be inefficient with regard specific conditions. proven a reliable damage-sensitive feature real-time assessment despite both significant noise disturbance and complexity/randomness This was also confirmed (time-)discontinuous processes over random-based detections. An protocol finally developed according experimental evidence considering recommendations current monitoring. found promising fracture-critical structures fatigue.

Health Monitoring for Composite under Low-Cycle Cyclic Loading, Considering Effects of Acoustic Emission Sensor Type

Composites have been widely used in the aerospace industry. Due to the requirement of a high safety for such structures, they could be considered for health monitoring. The acoustic emission approach is one of most effective methods for identifying damages in composites. In this article, standard specimens were made from carbon fibers and the epoxy resin, with the [03/902/...

Monitoring and Failure Analysis of Corroded Bridge Cables under Fatigue Loading Using Acoustic Emission Sensors

Cables play an important role in cable-stayed systems, but are vulnerable to corrosion and fatigue damage. There is a dearth of studies on the fatigue damage evolution of corroded cable. In the present study, the acoustic emission (AE) technology is adopted to monitor the fatigue damage evolution process. First, the relationship between stress and strain is determined through a tensile test for...

Monitoring of Metal Fatigue Damage Using Acoustic Emission and Thermography

Acoustic emission (AE) supplies information on the fracture behavior of different materials. In this study, AE activity was recorded in metal coupons with a V-shape notch, which were loaded in fatigue until final failure. AE parameters exhibit a sharp increase approximately 1000 cycles before final failure. The use of AE parameters is discussed both in terms of characterization of the damage me...

Fatigue Failure and Damage Analysis of an Anti-roll Bar Subjected to Fatigue Experiments

The available fatigue theories have been examined using simple specimens subjected to bending or tension-compression loads. Therefore, the stress fields have been generally one or two dimensional. Anti-roll bar is a component belongs to the suspension system of the vehicles. In spite of having simple circular section, due to the having several curvatures, this component experiences a three-dime...
